PDP – MOTIVATION

Well, here we are.  I have finally reached the end of my PDP.  It has been a worthwhile journey so far since my start in September.  I have had some ups and downs (from having lighter class loads to getting sick) but I have seen some progress and reached my goal and that is what matters most!

There are 3 things that I have learned from PDP that I will take with me into my future class and it is this:

1. Everyone can set a goal.

2. Everyone can work to the best of their ability.

3. Everyone can be successful.

I talk about these 3 things and my entire PDP process in my latest youtube video.

It can be found HERE or by searching http://www.youtube.com/missblairy and finding my most recent video titled ‘PDP Final Reflection – MOTIVATION”.

I also wrapped up my process by making my own motivational board! I talked about it a bit in my video (around the 6:31 mark).  Here is a close up look at my board, in case you want any ideas or just want to see how it turned out!

Thanks for being a part of my Professional Development Project.  I cannot wait to keep up with it in the New Year! I will be sure to update videos and blog posts here so that you can keep up.

PDP – Creating the Perfect Playlist

For one of my last videos, I decided to talk about a different aspect of working out and that is: a workout playlist.  Music always gets me excited and I love to have a variety of songs throughout my playlist.  The different types of songs that I utilize in my playlist include:

1. Warm Up Song

2. “Gets You Going” Song

3. Pump Up Song

4. Recovery Song

5. Finale Song

6. Cool Down Song

7. The In-Betweeners

For a more detailed description of what these songs entail, check out my latest video HERE.

ZUMBA!!

I am not sure how much you know about Zumba but it is a great way to get in shape, stay fit, and also have fun at the same time.  A good instructor always makes an activity more fun and I’ve found a great one here in Regina.  So, if you get the chance, check out a Zumba class [they’re usually 5 dollars for a drop-in]. I define it as a fitness class with a mix of latin, aerobics, salsa, hiphop, and belly dancing! If you’re curious to know more check out this video or by linking to the Zumba Official website (Zumba.com).

PDP – Home Again

Home again for a family & friends visit.  Decided to go for a jog today and it was very cold (rainy too!).  Still using the Map MY Run app and it’s working great.  I’ve plugged it enough for it to be my sponsor .. but you should definitely try it out!

Rain, rain, go away.

PDP – Running At Home

Thanksgiving weekend and I’m in the Bestevan for the weekend!! I’ve indulged in a lot of food, drinks, and sweets, so I decided to go for a run this morning.  I got to go for a nice light jog around my old neighbourhood and high school.. it was sure nice to see everything again!

I also noticed that they had fixed up the running track at my old high school.  It was such a breath of fresh air to go for a run and not have to worry about uneven ground or spots to trip over.

Check it out for yourself! It really made my day & my run 🙂

PDP – Mapping My Run

Remember how I talked about loving outdoor running? Well, I’ve been looking for a good app to use while I’m out and about jogging.  Although I’m not a huge fan of lugging around my iphone, I found an app that works great on it.

It’s called Map My Run and the website can be found here. (You can also find it on the itunes app search).

Anyways, I’ll let my voice do the talking with my third PDP video.  Watch it here and enjoy!! Warning: The volume is a tad loud in this video.

PDP – Taking in the Outdoors

Outdoor Jogging – this is probably one of my favourite physical activities to do! There is nothing better than moving and breathing in the fresh air at the same time.  I’m not looking forward to that first large winter snowfall because I feel that it will limit the amount of jogging that I do outside.  Although, that shouldn’t limit me, should it?

Yes, it might. I always seem to get my first seasonal cold that way so that’s why I try to refrain from outdoor jogging when it is below 15 or if there is a windchill.

I jogged tonight anyways.  I will continue to do so until the weather really puts a damper on my outdoor physical fitness.  In the meantime though, I will continue going for jogs and taking in the fresh air! Nothing better.

Question of the day: If one were to get into winter running, what kind of things would they have to look into? Ways to run, clothing to wear, etc? Share some tips and tricks if you have any!

Day Two In The Books!

Day 2 of my ‘being active’ personal development project is complete.  I ran short of time tonight & would not have made it to the gym before it closed. So, instead of skipping out, I decided to try an at-home workout! I followed the following cycle:

late ngiht workout

I only did the cycle twice but it felt pretty good.  I need to work on my crunches & squats because they sure are slowing me down.  After watching a video of me performing the cues, I realize that I also need to watch my posture on some of the cues.

Other than that, it was nice to workout in the comfort of my own home! You can watch my accompanying video HERE and feel free to follow my youtube account: youtube.com/missblairy!!

See you on day 3 🙂
